Description
Had another idea for a Monster Hunter fake in the same "crustacean dragon" direction as my last one. Visually it takes strongly from horseshoe crabs and tools like a machete and spade, but its behavior is inspired by salt water crocodiles, wild pigs, and nurse sharks. Hope you all like it!
Ecology:
A close relative of Garnaak, Xiphosuur prowl the mangrove swamps and sea grass flats of the tropics. Their broad flat snouts are dotted with ampula of lorenzini, electro-sensitive organs. Because they prey on shellfish that live in the mud, they are often seen wading in the shallows rooting around in the sediments. They swing their head back and forth like a metal detector until they find a living thing, which they promptly dig up using their spade-like head. Their glossy armor reflects the sun's rays keeping them cool and also protects them from the harsh salt buildup that comes with living in shallow salt water. Similar in shape to a kopis, their blade-like tail is used to clear mangrove branches to ease their passage through shallow salt creeks. They are known to swim across deep channels to travel between mangrove islands. A foul stench of decomposing peat often precedes a Xiphosuur as the thick mud of the mangroves sticks to their thick underfur.

"Crustacean Brute Wyvern" was something I never knew I needed until today. I love these things! I am very curious to know more about that "communication fin."
I asked this with the last one too, but how big is it? Something about your Crustacean Brutes makes me feel like they're smaller.
